Environmentally friendly friction modifiers

.

 ·

TIMREX® KS Graphites are the most versatile grades, with small single crystal domains and a relatively round particle shape. Their optimized porosity, highly isotropic electrical and thermal conductivity, good compressibility and low friction coefficient offer special benefits as friction modifier additive. They are especially suitable for sintered metallic clutch facings and brake pads.

 ·

TIMREX® T Graphites have more flake-shaped particles and a larger BET surface area. Because of their hardness, good thermal conductivity, good damping behavior due to their internal porosity and excellent lubricating properties they are recommended for organic bonded clutch facings (paper or fiber) and organic brake linings (semi-metallic, non-metallic, low-metallic).

 ·

TIMREX® Natural Flakes come from mother Earth. The mineral ore is crushed, then goes through a mechanical purification process in flotation units. With their flake-like particle shape, natural graphite displays superior electrical and lubricating properties. Natural grades are suitable for all organic bonded friction materials, especially for linings in drum brakes as well as in brake pads for trains.

 ·

TIMREX® FC Cokes which are produced by calcination of selected and exactly defined petroleum cokes, are characterized by low ash and sulphur content, well defined texture and consistent particle size distribution. They are suitable for all kind of sintered and organically bonded friction materials.

ENSACO TM represents the trade name of  a specific range of carbon blacks, so-called 'conductive carbon blacks', with a proprietary production process. Their main characteristics are i.e. a high purity level, an easy dispersibility in polymers, their ability to bring the required conductivity at low loadings. They all have a high structure  which helps building a conductive network at lower concentrations.

 ·

TIMREX® KC Graphites with higher electrical conductivity and compressibility are mostly used in electrochemical applications and carbon brushes.

 ·

TIMREX® SFG Graphites with their high anisotropy similar to natural graphite show an increased compressibility, very low friction coefficient and increased electrical conductivity combined with a relatively low BET surface area.  They are mainly used in carbon brushes.

 ·

TIMREX® MX Graphites have high crystalline flakes with a pronounced anisotropic character, especially developed for advanced alkaline battery applications.

 ·

TIMREX® MB Graphites have been developed as a low-cost alternative for MX-grades.

 ·

TIMREX® F Graphites have been developed for sintered-iron metallurgy.  Thanks to an ideal combination of grain size and crystallinity, a partnership that produces low dimensional change and good reproducibility, good dimensional accuracy is assured.

 ·

TIMREX® HSAG Graphites because of their mesoporous structure have a high BET surface area and high tap density combined with an outstanding purity and electrical conductivity.  These properties that make these graphites especially suitable for catalyst supports and gas diffusion layers in fuel cells.

 ·

TIMREX® SD Graphites are characterized by an extreme high degree of purity (99.95%) making them especially suitable as starting material for the manufacture of synthetic diamonds.

 ·

TIMREX® LB Dispersions are water-based coating dispersions.  Each member of this family is tailor-made for a specific final application in the most diverse branches of industry.  They are used as electrically conductive coating layers or as release agents and provide corrosion protection.  In other cases they reduce wear and tear on tools and componets.

 ·

TIMREX® BNB Graphites are produced through a chemical intercalation of natural graphite followed by a thermal expansion process.  The result is a very high electrical conductivity with low percolation threshold.  These properties are exploited in high-drain alkaline batteries, conductive elastomers and bipolar plates of fuel cells.

 ·

ROLLIT® DS and DDP lubricants have been developed to withstand the high pressure, temperature and friction during the rolling process of seamless pipes.  For each mill process a suitable mandrel bar lubricant product is available.

 ·

ROLLIT® EZ products have been developed for treating scale in shell interiors.  EZ products are based on mixtures of graphite and salts.  Descaling products also have a positive impact on the internal surface quality of the tubes.

 ·

TIMREX® PC Coke is calcined at high temperature offering low sulphur concentration, low content of oversize particles, high apparent density and high chemical stability against most chemical substances.  It is used in PTFE compounds.

 ·

TIMROC® Silicon Carbide (SiC) is one of the hardest materials around and characterized by a high thermal conductivity and resistance to temperature fluctuations.  The application areas for TIMROC® Silicon Carbide are: abrasives, refractories, wire sawing, wear resistant and anti-skid floorings, filler for resins.
