Phenolic Resins

CRIOS started operations in 1974 in Cotia, São Paulo, Brazil, producing phenolic resins and molding powders. At present, CRIOS has all its industrial activities in Rio Claro, São Paulo, on an area of 120.000 m2, where production of phenolic, urea, furan, acrylic and melamine resins, molding powders, coated sand, formaldehyde and shell molds for the foundry industry is spread on an area of 12.000 m2.

CRIOS’ guiding principles has always been to provide the market with state-of-the-art products at internationally competitive prices. CRIOS growth and its special emphasis on business with the foundry industry can be attributed in large measure to its 1977 association with HÜTTENES-ALBERTUS CHEMISCHE WERKE GMBH - a worldwide leading company in this field thanks to its state-of-the-art technology in the production of resins and auxiliary products for foundry industry. Hüttenes-Albertus operates in 45 different countries, through affiliates and associates.

Hüttenes-Albertus, through Hüttenes-Albertus Lackrohstoff, is a producer of high-technology resins and additives for the paint industry, what has enabled Crios to develop an excellent position in the Brazilian paints market for acrylic resins.

Since year 2000 SCHENECTADY INTERNATIONAL INC. has been CRIOS major shareholder. Schenectady is headquartered in N.Y., U.S.A. and it is a worldwide leading company in phenol alkylation, electrical-insulating enamels and varnishes production, as well as being a great worldwide producer of performance phenolic resins. It has 27 industrial facilities in 13 countries and research and development centers for products and processes in the main countries.
