Several producers in various parts of the world.  Was originally developed as a replacement for asbestos in asbestos cement sheet and slates.  One part of PAN will replace six parts of asbestos.  It possesses good reinforcing characteristics and is a useful ingredient in heavy duty friction materials where good physical strength is required.
