ifriction.com comments:

Lamella silicate with molecular structure linked up in sheets extending in two directions.  So it is in platelet form, and as such contributes to physical strength - if there is a good bond between the mica and the resin or rubber bond.  An aluminum silicate, chemically close to vermiculite.  Can be a useful ingredient in small quantities - up to 5% - especially in countries where mica is a low cost indigenous raw material.
