Rebuilder / Supplier of Heavy Duty Brake Linings and Disc Pads

East Coast Brake Rebuilders is one of the few Eaton Authorized Brake Shoe Remanufactures on the east coast of the United States. We can supply you with extended service shoes, certified OEM shoes, or any grade of relined brake shoe you may need.

Since opening our doors in December of 1990, we have accumulated well over one hundred active accounts, and annual sales approaching 5 million. We started our operations in January 1990 in a working area with approximately 1,600 square feet, then moved to renting a space on Dorset Ave. that accommodated us with 6,000 square feet of working space. Three years later, in May 1994 we were pleased to announce the opening of our own facility built for our needs, located on Curlew Dr. in Norfolk, Va. with 15,500 square feet. We then decided to add an additional 6,000 square feet of building that is detached from the main building.

WHO ARE WE?  We’re EAST COAST BRAKE REBUILDERS  in Norfolk, Va. THAT’S THE BRAKES!!

The Process

When the shoes (cores) reach our lot, they are counted, inspected, and sorted by part number and size, palletized and wrapped for processing.

The fist step is washing off all oil & grease from each brake shoe with a BMS Washing Machine that holds 150 gallons of water at 195 degrees with 50 pounds of pressure. The brake shoe is then clean, hot, and ready to have the lining removed.

Next, the old lining is removed with BMS Auto Deliners that punch through the rolled down clinch of the rivet, and then push the rivet body out of the table of brake shoe and lining without causing table damage that occurs with other de-lining methods.

Then, the steel brake shoe is shot blasted with millions of steel balls moving at 130mph that remove all paint, scale, and rust so that the brake shoe is down to bare steel & has a proper surface for painting.

The brake shoe is now painted with BMS SureCoat 250 paint while the brake shoe is approximately 180 degrees and the pores of the steel are open.  The heat allows the paint to seep deep into the steel for a superior paint job that reduces rust jacking significantly!!

The brake shoe is then checked for stretch, compression, anchor pin and cam roller looseness. All stretched shoes are brought back to OEM specs and compressed or rejected shoes are thrown out! The gauge monitors the span of the shoe to avoid over bending during the correction process.

Our brake shoes are then lined by BMS hydraulic riveters. These machines compensate for any variances in the thickness of the brake lining or shoes, eliminating any loose lining. Each rivet is rolled at 1,750 pounds of pressure with no collapsing and tube splitting, which means higher quality for our customers.

Strict quality control and random inspections of shoes in the rivet testing machine will insure lining to be secure as if it was a new shoe.

So for a competitive high quality brake shoe with outstanding customer service, call EAST COAST BRAKE REBUILDERS for your next brake shoe order!!
