Announces New Brake Training School
New Training Course Incorporates Lessons
from Former Air Brake and Foundation Brake Training Classes
Both new and experienced technicians can
soon gain cost-saving expertise from the new, all-inclusive Brake
Training School from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, the North
American leader in commercial vehicle safety and braking system
technologies.
The comprehensive Bendix Brake Training
School – conducted by veteran, 100 percent ASE-certified Bendix Service,
Warranty, and Training (SWAT) team experts – combines the former Bendix
Air Brake and Foundation Brake Training schools into one complete
course. It allows maintenance professionals to learn about description,
operation, and service elements for the total range of components found
within dual air brake systems. “The Bendix brake school experience is
like no other. Our instructors engage the students in a carefully
crafted mix of lecture, practical exercises and hands-on work.
By providing this training to help
technicians efficiently and effectively maintain and repair the systems,
we’re helping fleets and owner-operators decrease their downtime and
service costs,” said John Reid, SWAT team manager.
“At Bendix, we believe it’s important to
offer this course to keep attendees, who represent a cross section of
product and service personnel from fleets and other organizations,
apprised of the latest technical information regarding the operation and
service of air brake and foundation brake systems. It’s an important way
to help keep trucks in good working order and, ultimately, help ensure
safety on the highways.”
Participants will learn from a curriculum
that includes: the fundamentals of compressed air; tactics for air
system failure mode diagnosis and troubleshooting; and air brake system
and foundation brake components, including air compressors, valves,
foundation drum brake and air disc brakes, slack adjusters, brake
chambers, shoes and drums. Additional topics covered include antilock
braking systems (ABS) and stability technologies such as the Bendix®
ESP® Electronic Stability Program. Various class exercises with hands-on
activities are provided and participants receive a comprehensive
workbook enabling them to take their lessons home with them.
Bendix began offering training schools more
than 50 years ago, making it among the longest running programs in the
industry. To date, nearly 200,000 people have successfully completed
Bendix training. Unlike other programs available, the comprehensive
Bendix curriculum integrates education about the entire braking system
with an introduction to service needs for today’s emerging technologies.
The school has continued to benefit from a constant stream of referrals
from past attendees. The 2008 Bendix Brake Training School will kick off
on Tuesday, March 11, in Springdale, Arizona. The course will be offered
in nearly 20 cities across the United States. For a full listing of
locations and dates, visit www.bendix.com.
Class size is limited and enrollment is on a
first come, first served basis. Registration may be completed online at
www.bendix.com or www.foundationbrakes.com, by phone (1-800-AIR-BRAKE,
option 5), or via fax (216-651-3261).
