27th June 2006 - Mintex Masters Time-Travel in UK !

Mintex, the aftermarket braking brand from TMD Friction, is set to make its drama debut on TV screens in the UK early next year in the second series of the BBC’s popular retro-crime caper ‘Life on Mars’.

Set in the 1970’s, Life on Mars stars John Simms as a modern-day detective transported back in time to the 1970’s. But now a star of a very different kind is about to feature in the second series.

To set the scene in Episode 4, the producer’s of the show recently approached TMD Friction to request the use of some original 1970’s Mintex advertising posters to adorn the walls of a car showroom in which a major scene is set. The original advertisement they have chosen is entitled ‘Mintex Goes International’ and highlights the market-leading position that the Mintex friction brand even back then.

One of the BBC’s Production team commented; "We scoured numerous motoring periodicals from the seventies and countless websites devoted to automotive memorabilia. The one brand that stood out was Mintex. The brand is clearly an icon of British motoring and so was perfect for the background to this scene."

And whilst today Mintex is one of the most innovative friction brands in the aftermarket, developed using cutting-edge technology, TMD Friction are thrilled to be asked to be involved in such a popular show. The second series of Life on Mars will be aired in January 2007 on BBC One.
