7th June 2006 - Rick Howell Named General Manager of Marathon Brake Systems Commercial truck tire industry executive, Rick Howell, was named General Manager of heavy-duty aftermarket supplier, Marathon Brake Systems, on May 15, 2006.Howell began working with Marathon and several other heavy-duty aftermarket companies in 2003 when he formed his company, Howell & Associates, Inc., after his retirement from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Howell said his management team at Marathon includes Jim Baldwin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Donna Morrow, Vice President of Finance. “Marathon’s product line-up for the heavy duty transport and transit vehicle aftermarket is extremely high caliber,” Howell said, “and our R&D operation is at work on new products and materials.” “My initial goal as General Manager of the company will be transformation of the present organization’s business model and structure so that our focus on our ability to serve our customers is made even sharper,” he said. Howell held various executive positions with Goodyear. He concluded his 31-year career with the tire-maker as director of sales and marketing for the company’s North American Commercial Tire Business Division.
