2nd May 2006 - Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems Named One of the 2006 Best Employers in Ohio

On April 20, 2006 Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, a world leader in commercial vehicle safety and braking system technologies, was named among the 2006 Best Employers in Ohio according to the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio Society of Human Resource Management.

Bendix was the only Lorain County employer selected among the 10 finalists in the “large employer” category, defined as having 200 or more employees. It’s the first year of the competition. Winners were chosen based on a two-part process. The first part consisted of an evaluation of workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part, worth 75 percent of the score, came from the results of a random, employee satisfaction survey within each nominated company.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized for creating and maintaining one of the top working environments in Ohio,” said Diane Shields, human resources director, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems. “Our corporate culture thrives thanks to our highly talented and dedicated workforce. This, combined with strong commitments to teamwork, a focus on business goals, and workforce development has helped us maintain our position as a long-term industry leader and consistently deliver strong business results.”

Companies that made the Best Employers list will find out their official rankings at a recognition ceremony May 9 at the Southern Theatre in Columbus. The event will be held alongside the Ohio Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Legislative Reception featuring keynote speaker Rudy Giuliani, the 107th mayor of New York City.

Bendix, which employs more than 400 people locally, provides air brake systems and leading-edge safety technologies for the global commercial vehicle market. Its customers include the world’s largest original equipment and engine manufacturers, such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo, International, Mack, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar and many others, as well as trucking fleets and owner-operators.
