8th August 2005 - Affinia Group Signs IT Services Agreement With EDS

Flexible, Standardized IT Foundation to Support Automotive Manufacturer's Growth Goals While Keeping Costs Predictable

EDS and Affinia Group Inc., a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of automotive aftermarket components, today announced that EDS will manage much of the Michigan-based manufacturer's information technology (IT) infrastructure. This new, seven-year agreement focuses on standardizing and consolidating management of Affinia Group's enterprise application software, the servers that run this software, desktops and networks for its locations in North America and Europe.

IT Support for Growing Global Operations

With the agreement, EDS will assist Affinia Group in broadening the scope of its enterprise resource planning application to support its expanding global operations. EDS will manage the application and host the midrange servers that house this application in its Service Management Center in Tulsa, Okla., which will help optimize server scalability to accommodate Affinia's business needs as they change.

In addition, EDS will provide support for Affinia's communications networks and desktop hardware and software for all desktops in North America and Europe.  All Affinia Group IT employees in Canada, Poland, Mexico, United Kingdom and United States will be invited to transition to EDS.

"Aligning IT with business objectives and standardizing IT platforms, as Affinia Group is doing, is a must to maintain the agility needed to move with today's rapidly changing business environment," said Darl Davidson, vice president United States Manufacturing Industry Group for EDS. "These EDS solutions will help improve stability and service levels and also increase Affinia Group's essential IT and business agility for quicker responses as needs change and expand."
