21st June 2005 - TRW Automotive Supplies New Pontiac Solstice with Brake System TRW Automotive Holdings Corp., through various subsidiaries, is supplying advanced steering, braking and occupant safety systems and components for the new Pontiac Solstice The Solstice features a complete rack and pinion power steering system with enhanced features, an advanced TRW brake actuation system, and a passenger side air bag. TRW engineers and supplies the full power steering system that features "9-land" valve damping technology also found on Cadillac CTS models. This technology significantly reduces system vibration and noise and contributes to a very stable steering feel. The steering system complements other vehicle systems to give the Solstice superior vehicle handling. TRW is also supplying the full brake actuation system for the Solstice based on a European design now in production on the Opel Astra. This is a "Girvac" style actuation system, which set the standard for brake booster design in Europe, and will be produced at TRW's new actuation facility in Gliwice, Poland. "TRW is pleased to be supplying leading edge safety systems and technologies for the new Pontiac Solstice," said Peter J. Lake, executive vice president, Sales and Business Development for TRW Automotive. "We look forward to working with General Motors as they launch this new vehicle."
