26th May 2005 - Global Operations and Sourcing Specialist Allen Yu to join Affinia

Global business expert Allen Yu has been appointed Senior Vice President, Strategic Development for Affinia Group Inc., effective June 6, 2005.

“Allen is another great step in building the strong leadership team we have blueprinted.  He brings extensive experience in operations and multi-country sourcing,” said Terry McCormack, president and CEO of Affinia.   “He will focus on using Affinia’s design capabilities and brand strength to expand our sales, sourcing and manufacturing presence worldwide.

“Allen has helped some of the finest companies in the world improve productivity and implement international growth initiatives,” McCormack went on to say.  “He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, and he has an MBA in finance, marketing and strategy from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern.  He also has a Master of Science in industrial engineering and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, both from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA.”

Yu comes to Affinia from Safety-Kleen Corp., an $800 million industrial products and services company.  Serving as VP of Sales Operations, he led several company-wide profitability improvement initiatives, and increased sales productivity by 15% through implementation of new sales tools, compensation plans and performance improvement programs.

Prior to Safety-Kleen, Yu was with McKinsey & Company, a global strategy consulting firm, where he specialized in helping clients develop growth and operational improvement strategies.  He came to McKinsey from General Electric, having spent 7 years in a variety of management roles, primarily related to global sourcing.
