17th March 2005 - Honeywell Friction Materials Creates "The Friction Factor" Training DVD Creatively Designed Video Serves as Educational Piece for Brake Technicians Honeywell Friction Materials has created an all-new training DVD entitled The Friction Factor. While versatile enough to be used across multiple venues, the 30-minute DVD was designed specifically for classroom training to educate upcoming brake technicians on the appropriate use and installation of Bendix® Brakes. In order to reach this audience, The Friction Factor was sent to vocational schools across the country in August of 2004. Creatively designed with special sound effects, computer-generated animations and video footage, the five-part DVD is technical in nature but easy to understand. The video is crafted in such a way that it both entertains and educates the viewer. After a brief introduction on the history of Bendix® Brakes, an industry leader in friction innovations for over 80 years, the DVD segments into a detailed explanation of the different types of Bendix friction materials. Viewers are informed of the key questions to ask customers in order to select the correct friction for their vehicles. Technicians must determine if wear, noise, cost, performance or appearance is most important to their customer, while also considering what type of driving the customer does most: highway, in-city, stop and go, or heavy towing. Advice on doing a brake job correctly is also provided, with tips on checking hardware, lubrication, rotor resurfacing and installation. The final segment tests viewers on information covered in the training video by having them identify real customers and their driving habits, and then selecting the proper friction application for the profiled driver.
