Press Releases Wanted

7th January 2005 - Produco & Lφdige Granulation Process Using the New Rotation-Split-Granulation ((RSG)

“Outphase Composite System Friction Granule Materials ”

Advantages of RSG:

 •

Minimizing the dust

 • Optimizing the process
 • Reducing the costs
 • Very short batch time (4-8min) compared to wet process (more than 30 min)
 • Granule size can be controlled to get defined particle size distribution
 • Moisture without drying step below 1%
 • No solvents - explosion protection of installation not necessary

Wet mixing and granulation of moulding compound material by Rotation-Split-Granulation (RSG)

The RSG -process is a new procedure for preparation of moulding compound.  The material is mixed and granulated in one machine and gives very homogenous and stable mixtures that gives advantages for the pressing step and the final product ’s properties.

Process

The dry materials are handled in a Papenmeier High Shear Mixer with a combination of special tools.  In a first step the components are mixed and the fibres are opened.  In the next step the liquid binder is added over a time and distributed well.  Than the granulation step is done.  At the end the batch is discharged.  All steps are done in the same machine under various conditions of speed.

The final material is in shape of fine granules without any dust.  Recipes will be adapted.  Brake lining materials done by RSG have properties similar to material done with wet mixing and drying.  It is discharged with a moisture below 1 %.The cost and time expensive step for drying of solvents has been ruled out.  Total batch times are within minutes.

Application examples:

 •

Brake lining material

 • Fibre containing sealings

Improved Properties for the Final Product:

 • Constant material process
 • Higher strength
 • Less rejects
 • Less extra portion for thickness
 • Reducing of flash
 • Similar to material from wet process

Cost-Effective Advantages:

 • More parts in given time
 • Less rework
 • Higher safety in delivering
 • Less rejections
 • Higher customer ’s contentment
 • Reduced costs by saving material
 • Price can be reduced
 • More profit
